Biography

Juana Aledo is an Assistant Professor of Accounting in the Financial Reporting & Audit department at ESCP Europe, Madrid. Before joining ESCP Europe in 2017, she was visiting professor in the department of Business Administration at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. She holds a PhD in Accounting and Auditing from Universidad Complutense de Madrid and a MBA from EOI Business School. Her teaching experience covers Financial Accounting, Financial Reporting under IFRS, and Financial Statement Analysis and Company Valuation.

 

Her research focuses on the study of the relationship between financial accounting, corporate governance and capital markets. She is also interested in international accounting; more specifically in the economic consequences of the adoption of the IFRS in Europe. She has participated in a number of research projects related to the IFRS harmonization process with the Spanish accounting standard-setters (ICAC, Bank of Spain, and Comisión Nacional del Mercado de Valores). Her publications have appeared in Australian Accounting Review, Spanish Accounting Review and the Bank of Spain’s working papers series. She regularly serves as an ad hoc reviewer for several academic journals, and is member of the European Accounting Association, the American Accounting Association, and the Accounting & Finance Association of Australia and New Zealand.
