Biography

Agnes Limmer-Kneitz studied history and German for the teaching profession at LMU Munich. In 2007/2008, she spent a semester at Henan University in Kaifeng, China, and worked in New Zealand for several months. In 2009, she completed her MA in recent and modern German history, ancient history, and German linguistics at LMU. Her MA thesis, entitled "Wilhelm Raabe's 'Pfister's Mill' as a Window for the Perception of Industrial Environmental Conflicts," explores a nineteenth-century lawsuit on industrial river pollution in a contemporary novel. After completing her degree, she first worked as a research associate at the Rachel Carson Center in Munich before joining the faculty of the School of History at Renmin University of China, Beijing.From 2013 to 2017, she was a member of the RUC's Center for Ecological History, assisting with joint projects between the center and the RCC. Since Spring 2018, she has been working as program manager for the International Expert Group on Earth System Preservation e.V. at TUM-IAS.
