Dr. Naylor has spent over a decade educating Olympians, major and minor league professionals, competitors in major collegiate conferences (Hockey East, ACC, Big West, Big Ten, Ivy, WCC), and elite juniors athletes towards their goals. He is a regular contributor to USA Hockey coach education conferences and serves as an external consultant to a variety of sports academies (currently the Ivan Lendl International Junior Tennis Academy) and school athletic departments. His research inquiries lie in understanding best practices for player development and how coaches, parents, and organizations create optimal growth environments for athletes. Beyond being on the faculty of the School of Education, he actively consults with athletes, teams and organizations on player development concerns, writes for Psychology Today’s The Sporting Life column, contributes to Boston.com’s Get Moving section, and is Counseling Column Editor for the International Journal of Athletic Therapy and Counseling.
