Background

Dr Abhi Ghadge is an Associate Professor (Reader) of Supply Chain Management at Cranfield School of Management. Previously, Dr Ghadge worked as Assistant Professor and Programme Director of Logistics and Supply Chain Management at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, UK. He has over 14 years of industrial, academic and consulting experience working with a wide range of UK, European and Asian organisations.

Dr Ghadge holds a PhD in Operations and Supply Chain Management from Loughborough University, UK, and was the recipient of CILT's prestigious 'James Cooper Memorial Cup' for the best PhD thesis across UK universities for outstanding research in Logistics and Supply Chain Management. Earlier, he completed MTech in Industrial Engineering and Management from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur, India and BEng in Aeronautical Engineering from the Aeronautical Society of India.

Dr Ghadge has worked with multiple organisations on interdisciplinary research and industry-funded projects. His scholarly work has been published in highly reputed international journals, conference proceedings and practitioner reports. Dr Ghadge serves as an editorial board member of International Journal of Logistics Management and Computers & Industrial Engineering. He has been guest editor for International Journal of Production Research (IJPR) and International Journal of Physical Distribution & Logistics Management (IJPDLM).

Dr Ghadge is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and Member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), UK.

Research opportunities

Dr Ghadge is interested in collaborating with academics and practitioners working in the broad domain of Operations, Logistics and Supply Chain Management.

He is also interested in supervising PhD students and assisting Post-doctoral candidates in Supply chain risk & resilience and Digital transformation implementation adopting Industry 4.0 technologies and new business models. Current activities

Dr Ghadge follows a practice-driven approach to challenging problems in risk and Industry 4.0 applications interfacing supply chains.

Dr Ghadge is responsible for conducting high quality research, supervision and teaching in Supply Chain Risk & Resilience, Information Systems and E-business (Industry 4.0) and Big Data Analytics for Supply Chain Management.

  • Assessment of impact and mitigation of emerging risks such as Climate change, Cyber security, Financial risk, Counterfeit risk and Pandemic risk on global/local supply chains.

Industry 4.0 applications for supply chains:

  • Digital transformation, Implementation of IoT, Additive Manufacturing, Cloud platforms, Blockchain, Autonomous Vehicles, AI and Digital Twin for improved supply chain performance
