Who should attend

Parents and their teenage sons or daughters (ages 14–18). Each parent-teen pair will learn and grow together throughout the program.

About the course

The Entrepreneurial Family is a transformational weeklong summer program that allows you and your teenager to build your relationship while experiencing Babson's one-of-a-kind Entrepreneurial Thought & Action® (ET&A™) methodology together. The program was launched through the vision and generosity of seasoned entrepreneur and business leader Diego Lowenstein '90, P'21.

What You Will Learn

You and your child will learn from Babson faculty members who are globally renowned academics and seasoned entrepreneurs. You and your teen will join other business-minded families from around the world in experiences that include time in and out of the classroom.

Classroom topics include:

Introduction to ET&A

Discover Entrepreneurial Thought & Action, Babson's approach to entrepreneurship of all kinds. Find out how ET&A can help you take quick and smart actions to taking on new opportunities. Use the methodology to develop a business opportunity that you present to the group at the culmination of the program.

Art of the Pitch

Explore approaches to pitching to an investor, including how to engage an audience and learning what investors value when listening to pitches.

Family Entrepreneurship

Participate in a conversation about family entrepreneurship including the benefits and challenges to working with your family.

Self-Understanding

You will complete a work style assessment and learn how your behavioral style affects how you work with others and how you can adapt your style to work more effectively with others.

Design Thinking Simulation

Participate in a team-based simulation that provides hands-on experience in working through the design process (Inspire, Ideate, Implement) to gain skills necessary to navigate through the front end of entrepreneurial activity.

Family Finances

Gain an understanding of how to effectively manage wealth and maintain a healthy family environment by exploring perspectives on risk tolerance, financial style and effective decision making.

Opportunity Assessment

Leverage an iterative approach to launching a venture by using ET&A to identify low cost means to test an opportunity, learn and reshape the opportunity.

Business Model Canvas

Learn business models that help entrepreneurs answer a number of questions including how they can add revenue sources and what kind of infrastructure is needed to support additional revenue models.

Outside of the classroom you will:

  • Explore nearby Boston
  • Hear from speakers who are experienced entrepreneurs
  • Go on a company tour
  • Participate in sports activities
  • Network at dinner receptions
