Description

Upon successful completion of this course, the delegates will be able to:

  • Identify the various professional skills required by the offshore surveyor for surveying various types of floating unit
  • Analyse the role of the offshore surveyor in relation to clients, insurance companies and oil majors, cargo, classification societies and regulatory bodies
  • Describe the methodology required to prepare for and perform various types of offshore survey
  • Discuss the offshore industry with clients with a view to offering accurate, valuable offshore survey services
  • Demonstrate a clear, logical approach to performing offshore surveys
  • Explain the financial aspects of managing a small offshore survey company
  • Interact with asset owners, cargo owners, classification societies, flag states and accident investigators
  • Produce a detailed and accurate professional offshore survey report

  • Regulation of the industry
  • The International Maritime Organization (IMO) position with the offshore industry
  • Offshore surveyors, survey organisations and how you define them
  • Safety of surveyors in the offshore industry

Day 2

  • Floating Offshore Units, MODU and Offshore Support Vessels
  • Classification and Regulatory Control of Offshore Units

  • Structural Arrangements and Loading of Offshore Floating Units
  • Ship Conversions, Maintenance and Life Extension Studies

### Day 4

  • Laws and Conventions Relating to Marine Surveying
  • Offshore Surveying Practice and Effective Report Writing

### Day 5

  • Marine and Offshore Surveying and Insurance
  • Business Skills for Offshore Surveyors
  • Offshore Accident Investigation
