About the course
Financial literacy capabilities are indispensable for leaders to take on responsibilities regional and global. Resources are scarce in every organization. Financially savvy leaders set themselves apart, because of their ability to build a business case that is not only thorough but also well-informed.
Every leader should have good business acumen and the ability to have a literate conversation around financial drivers for their own organisation and their competitors. Savvy leaders can sniff out trouble in investment opportunities and prevent the organisation from deviating from a financially sound path.
Led by distinguished faculty, SMU Professors Benedict Koh and Themin Suwardy, this programme will use a participant-centred teaching pedagogy based on interactive seminar-style approach and supported by relevant case studies and group breakout sessions. Preparatory reading will be given to help you make a rapid start and fully participate in this hands-on programme.
Who should attend
This programme is designed for senior executives from non-financial backgrounds who need to use financial information to evaluate business performance, make important financial decisions and are required to make decisions or formulate strategies based on financial information. These senior executives may represent listed and non-listed companies, statutory and governmental institutions, small and medium enterprises.
The objective of the programme is ultimately directed at tangible behavioural change. It aims to help you develop greater effectiveness in cost control, financial management and value creation within your organisation. You will acquire knowledge and skill sets in the areas of finance as well as build competencies to complement your existing managerial experience.
