About the course

The Essentials of Data and Analytics online course assists the user in understanding the fundamentals of data and analytics, and how to use it in decision making. The course is a mix of videos, reading material, and thought-provoking reflection exercises to support learning and spark deeper observation.

The course comprises two learning paths, with data strategy and analytics divided into separate sections, each with several modules on different topics, in order to give the participant a comprehensive introduction to the field.

Without previous experience in the area of data and analytics, it can be challenging to discuss problems, solutions, and processes with experts. With the information gained from this course, you will be able to recognize how the value of data plays an essential role not only in decision-making but also in daily life. When you enter the world of analytics, you may find the terminology confusing and be unsure of how to decide what you should purchase for an analytics project. In meeting this challenge, it is helpful to see typical case scenarios in analytics and the ingredients involved in these types of problem.

This online course assists managers and experts in decision-making by presenting definitions and terminology combined with case studies and scenarios for further reflection.


By participating in the online course, participants will reflect on the importance of data, which together with analytics poses a strong base in any company. The course provides teams with an essential level of skill and assists the participants in taking informed decisions.

Contents and Schedule The online course covers the essentials of data and analytics and provides the participant with fundamental know-how in the field including data strategy, field definitions of data and analytics, and case scenarios. The participant will get an overview of data and its importance and gain an understanding of the essentials of analytics and how to use data and analytics in decision making.

The online course also includes a Course Workbook, where reflections from the course are gathered in one handy document. You can apply the findings to reflect on your learning journey and use the workbook to start working on a data and analytics project idea.

The program is structured into 11 online modules that take approximately six hours in total to complete depending on your speed and preferred study style. The modules consist of interactive video lectures, reflection tasks, and reading material, each covers data, and analytics from a different perspective. The videos are accompanied by interactive questions to check your knowledge along the way, further reading material, and reflection prompts.

The first learning path, Data Strategy, will delve into the concept of data. Data is everywhere, and we humans have been gathering data for many years. Learning Path 2: Analytics
