About the course

Activating and Holding Transformative Change Online is a new frontier of leadership, facilitating greater accessibility and participation.

How do you run effective virtual meetings that connect people not only on a mental level, but by engaging all our intelligences: head, heart, and hand? How do you structure novel online-to-offline learning architectures that allow you to build transformational learning and change environments at scale? How can you activate ecosystems across the digital divide?

This intensive 4-day program integrates over 10 years’ experience in creating effective and transformative online spaces. It allows participants to learn methods and tools for generative digital engagement; practice creating online work and learning environments for their teams, groups or organizations; and improve their own capability and competence to hold the space for transformational change in contexts that are virtual and disrupted.

What this program will provide

This first day introduces the foundations of digital leadership in times of disruption, based on tools and practices of Theory U and Otto Scharmer’s work.

Track 1: Facilitating Meetings Online Effectively

This track explores how to design and lead an effective and professional meeting online, allowing for high-quality attention and presence to enable optimal outcomes. Our need to meet and be in conversation has never been more critical. However, most of us are used to meaningful dialogue happening in-person, face-to-face. This track therefore seeks to make explicit the key ingredients required for successful online meetings.

Track 2: O2O (online-to-offline) innovation and learning platforms/projects

Increasingly educators and leaders are being called to integrate online learning into their teaching and change work. - How can we utilize digital platforms and tools while ensuring generative and empowered engagement? - How do we design learning experiences that blend the best of technology with the best of in-person learning? - How can we involved people across regions in a collective learning and change process? In this track we will explore key principles and practices for blended (O2O), whole person (head, heart and hand) learning and change environments for small groups or at scale.

Faculty Engagement: An opportunity to put questions to the Course Faculty about the application of digital leadership.

Track 3: Social Arts Online

Social arts provide a practice field for developing new collective leadership capacities. In this track we will explore: - How may we develop embodied learning practices in a virtual context that is completely disembodied? - How does contemplative social art support your leadership capacity for visioning and connecting with others in a meaningful way, and for innovating in a digital environment? - How may we enable everyone to show up and be fully present?

Track 4: Inclusion and activation across the digital divide

Online gatherings and digital platforms offer the incredible opportunity to widen access to participation in ways previously unimagined. But within this wave of change are many who are excluded by virtue of their limited connectivity and lack of access to data. Similarly, there are those who can participate, but for whom online platforms are foreign and alienating. In this track we will explore: How do we seize the opportunity brought by online functions, whilst ensuring that we don’t deepen existing inequalities and lack of participation in the conversations of our time? How can Digital Leadership bridge the societal divides and activate a web of goodness in the current moment?

On this final day, we come together to crystallize key learning experiences. We will also spend time on integrating the key principles and practices into our digital leadership toolkit for responding to the challenges we face in our various contexts and lines of work.

On day 2 and day 3 there will be an optional opportunity to engage with the faculty in two 60 minute call

Whether you are an executive, a manager, an educator, or a movement maker, the capacity to blend digital technologies with state-of-the-art systems thinking and awareness-based leadership tools is at the heart of most big leadership challenges that companies, governments, international institutions, and institutions of education are facing today.
