In this highly interactive seminar, the student will get a more in-depth understanding about the importance of effective communication and how it creates, nurtures, and builds the project team. Participants will learn how to identify stakeholders to better determine project requirements; improve the team's communication and listening skills; realize the importance of a communication plan; create successful project teams through effective communication; and apply motivational systems to improve team productivity and cooperation creating successful projects.
Learning Objectives and Outcomes
- Initial class exercise has students identify what they bring to the team they will be working with, where they would like help, and what they hope to learn to make them a better communicator. This Skills Matrix remains posted for the duration of the class as a reference for future exercises.
- Utilizing hands on activities, the objective of this class is to provide students with enhanced communication skills (questioning, listening, and providing and giving feedback), and understanding the roles of leader/manager, the importance of trust, and working in the virtual environment (how to build trust over distance), and facilitate effective meetings.
- At end of training session, (Using the skills matrix they created at the beginning of the class) students evaluate what they learned, what they will try back in the workplace, and whether or not their objectives were met. In addition class feedback forms are utilized to evaluate the instructor, class content, and facilities.
