500 Startups

Travis Skelly is a guest speaker at VC Unlocked: New York. Travis joined Citi Ventures in 2016; he is responsible for sourcing and executing venture investments in companies that sit at the intersection of financial services and technology. Travis is obsessed with understanding how financial institutions will be improved, marginalized or even destroyed by new technologies, revolutionary business models, and repurposed talent.

Travis started his career as a Financial Services consultant at Accenture, before moving to a strategy role at HSBC. During graduate school he cofounded Embarkly (a marketplace connecting dog owners and sitters). After his MBA, he joined Nomura’s Leverage Finance Group where he executed debt transactions for financial sponsors and corporate clients. Most recently, Travis was an investor at FinTech Collective, a fintech-focused venture fund where he made over 20 early stage investments.

Travis received his MBA from the University of Texas and his BS in Finance and International Business from Georgetown University. In his spare time, Travis is a tortured golfer, nascent world traveler, and occasional triathlete.
