Biography
Cyprus International Institute of Management
Dr. Stelios N. Markoulis studied finance at Cass Business School (BSc, MSc, PhD) and London School of Economics (MSc). He currently teaches in the area of finance – as a member of the visiting faculty – at University of Cyprus, Cyprus International Institute of Management and Cyprus Open University. In the past he worked for several years in the investment banking industry, obtaining valuable experience in the areas of raising public and private capital from the equity and bond markets, mergers and acquisitions, private equity, and company valuation, among others. His main research interests focus on empirical finance issues, such as the probability of bank default, capital raising through initial public offerings, the micro – and macro – economic determinants of stock returns, and the effect of exogenous shocks, such as terror attacks, on capital and foreign exchange markets. He is a member of the Editorial Board of several international journals and his work has been published in a number of refereed international journals and books and presented in international finance conferences. He is also an Honorary Visiting Research Fellow at Cass Business School, London.
