Senthil heads the Financial Reporting Surveillance Department (FRSD) in ACRA, which administers the Financial Reporting Surveillance Programme (FRSP) that safeguards the reliability and integrity of financial information. He has over 20 years of experience in advising public and private clients in Southeast Asia on accounting standards reform and application. His extensive practical experience spans across complex IFRS financial reporting, with a focus on financial instruments classification and measurement, impairment of assets, consolidation of structured entities, securitisations, hedge accounting and financial reporting amidst the changing IFRS environment.

He has advised a number of global banking, insurance institutions, airlines and shipping companies across Asia as they transitioned to the new bases of accounting and embedded complex accounting solutions, with the aim of enabling sustainability of finance function change over the long-term.

He was one of the main speakers in the IFRS workshop hosted by the Committee on Cooperation in Finance, Investment and Trade (COFIT) of the ASEAN Bankers Association (ABA) together with the Association of Banks in Singapore to help financial institutions in several ASEAN countries to understand IFRS and the benefits to various stakeholders namely investors, issuers and capital markets.

Key workshop delivery experience

Senthil is the Managing Director from the Accounting and Financial Reporting Advisory in PwC Singapore with over 15 years working experience. He has extensive practical experience across complex IFRS financial reporting, with a focus on revenue recognition, leases, financial instruments classification and measurement, valuation of structured debt investments and other loans, securitisations, dynamic (macro) hedge accounting, impairment and financial reporting amidst the changing IFRS environment.

  • IRAS and AGO - He is one of the key speakers for the workshops to be conducted by Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore and Auditor-General’s office. He also performs various trainings on current accounting topics.
  • ISCA - One of the main speakers at the ISCA recently held seminar on Financial Statements Review Commission Findings attended by approximately 200 participants.
  • BIS - He was the only speaker from Big 4 who presented the implications of IFRS to the regulators from Asia in a conference conducted by the Bank of International Settlements in Malaysia.
  • MTI and MAS - He has also presented in workshops held by Ministry of Trade & Industry and Monetary Authority of Singapore.

Summary of key project experience

His role in such advisory work is in both the project management side in ensuring the project progresses smoothly and in technical analysis on accounting impacts. His technical reviews focuses on determining accounting treatment for transactions structured under local GAAP, IFRS and US GAAP.

Senthil has worked across a wide range of local and multinational clients providing advisory services including UAB, Yoma Bank, IGE, MediaCorp, Lazada, Zalora, Singapore Airlines, Singapore Post, Nike, Monetary Authority of Singapore, Ministry of Trade & Industry – Department of Statistics, Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore, Hong Kong Shanghai Banking Corporation, Citibank, Credit Suisse, Temasek Holdings, MGPA Limited, Investcorp Bank and CLSA Singapore Pte Limited
