Russell Chaplin

Associate Fellow at Said Business School

Biography

Said Business School

Russell is recognised as a thought leader in real estate investment, having started his career as a lecturer in land economy at the University of Cambridge in the 1990's, later becoming Chief Investment Officer for over £20 billion of real estate across Europe.

Russell is known for challenging accepted wisdom, using research from the real estate domain, and from other asset classes, and for applying research to help improve real estate investment decisions. He is particularly interested in the interaction between the logic of investment decisions and individual, industry-wide and group human behaviour as it manifests itself in real estate decision making processes and the decisions themselves.

Most recently, Russell co-founded a business, Intrinsic Value Real Estate Advisers, which seeks to offer a thoughtful approach to real estate investment.

Russell holds a PhD and MPhil in Land Economy from the University of Cambridge and a BSc (Hons) in Estate Management from Heriot-Watt University. He is also a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
