THE ACCIDENTAL BUSINESS ANALYST
I love business analysis. I became a business analyst by accident... and the rest, as they say, is history.
With an initial analysis project spanning the UK, the USA and SA, I gained exposure to working on the global playing field on a project that was critical to achieving the strategic goal of achieving international standardization. Through working on the Premier Farnell Project with Dimension Data I established a strong analysis foundation that set me on an exciting career path.
Since that project, I have been involved in the design and documentation of solutions that have positively impacted the businesses I have worked in. Having analyzed and documented business requirements I have been able to turn those requirements into effective solutions. Over the 10 years of hands on analysis, I translated requirements into models, facilitated workshops and conducted presentations. I have managed projects, liaised with third parties and ensured delivery of solutions that solved business problems.
Over the years, my focus has shifted to the world of the business analysts that require more specialized and practical assistance in becoming better business analysts. I educate analysts in order to ensure that the next generation of analysts possess practical skills that result in value being added to the enterprises they work for.
Over the years I have developed deep facilitation skills, problem solving skills, strong writing/documentation skills and business analysis skill that focuses on the critical details. Through solid communication skills, I build relationships with team members, end users and stakeholders. In August 2014, I completed my CBAP® which was an achievement and an exciting accomplishment!
I have a passion for solving business problems through (computer) system agnostic thinking - once that is done, if necessary, we layer on the technology.
