Merieke Stevens is an Associate Professor of Operations Management at the department of Technology & Operations Management, Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University. She obtained a PhD in Operations Management from the University of Cambridge, Judge Business School.

Merieke''s research focuses on buyer-supplier relationship dynamics. She is particularly interested in cooperation between organizations to enhance innovation; the role of digital tools in supply chain management; and advantages and disadvantages of trust in supply chains.

Merieke lived in Japan for several years, where she did extensive on-site research in the automotive industry. She retains her automotive focus, but applies this experience to other topics such as the role of medical device suppliers in providing complex care.

Merieke’s teaching topics include Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Lean, and Six Sigma. At RSM she teaches, amongst others, the core course Operations Management in the fulltime MBA. Merieke received the 2014-2016 PMB Best Teacher Award.

Merieke has held visiting positions at The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania; the Faculty of Economics, University of Tokyo; and the Management Research Center, École Polytechnique Paris. She also serves on the Editoral Review Board of the Journal of Operations Management.

Merieke is a member of Queens’ College Cambridge, where Desiderius Erasmus studied between 1510 and 1515.

Merieke Stevens is an assistant professor at the department of technology & operations management at RSM. Her research focuses on relations between organisations. She is particularly interested in interfirm relationship dynamics over time; cooperation between buyers and suppliers to achieve competitive advantage; trust asymmetries; and power and dependence in the supply chain. Merieke lived in Japan, where she did extensive research in the automotive industry. She applies this experience to other sectors such as healthcare, and is involved in a large project on purchasing in the Dutch healthcare sector. Her teaching topics include Operational Excellence, Service Operations, Lean, and Procurement in Healthcare.
