After nearly 30 years contributing to and overseeing the development of federal accessibility guidelines and standards, Marsha Mazz joined the staff of Accessibility Services which is a program of the United Spinal Association. In 2018 Mazz retired from the U.S. Access Board where she served in the Office of Technical and Information Services, most recently as its Director. During her tenure, she participated in the development of the 1991 ADAAG and managed its revision in 2004. Additionally, she oversaw the development of accessibility standards and guidelines for Medical Diagnostic Equipment, Transportation Vehicles, Information and Communications Technology, and draft final rules for Public Rights of Way. After more than two decades as the Access Board’s representative to the International Code Council, the ICC/ANSI A117 Committee, and the National Fire Protection Association’s Disability Access Review Advisory Committee. Ms. Mazz now serves these organizations the United Spinal Association representative. Mazz is the recipient of the prestigious Ronald H. Brown Standards Leadership Award presented by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) at the 2010 U.S. Celebration of World Standards Day and the 2018 ANSI Meritorious Service Award.
