M. Jamil is a results-oriented commercial leader in the Pharmaceutical industry with broad strategic and operational experience for almost two decades in different geographies (US, Europe and Emerging Markets).

Jamil is currently working at Merck & Co as Global Disease area Leader to help commercialize Keytruda in Cancer.  He leads the global commercial strategy team for two tumors and works closely with the R&D, the regions and country-level teams to achieve key business goals. Prior to joining Merck, Jamil was vice president for Global Strategic Marketing at Bayer for two years.  Before that, Jamil held several commercial roles of increasing importance at Novartis Pharmaceuticals in the U.S., Global and Emerging Growth Markets between 2001 and 2014.  His last role at Novartis was to lead the Franchise Team for Neuro-endocrine tumors, endocrinology and neurology where he led the work with alliance partners on the life cycle management of key brands, including Afinitor, Omdozo, Signifor and Sandostatin.  He did a sales and marketing stint in US operations and then led the Global Market Research Team.  He was next the Global Product Director for Glivec and went on to join the Emerging Markets as Regional Head of Commercial Excellence for Oncology and moved to Regional Head of Marketing for Oncology. Later he led the Business Units in Israel & Ukraine and also did a stint as General Manager for Novartis Oncology in Saudi Arabia where he worked for two years.  Prior to Novartis, Jamil worked in US Marketing at Eli Lilly and Company for three years.

Jamil got his Ph.D. in Marketing from Kelley School of Business, Indiana University. He has published articles in several business journals (e.g., Journal of Marketing, Journal of Market Focused Management, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Behavioral and Applied Management). He has taught several undergraduate business courses at Indiana University. He has presented his research and insights at several academic and pharmaceutical industry conferences.   He was the 2002 Winner of Fifth Annual Excellence in Research Award by American Marketing Association’s Selling and Sales Management Special Interest Group.
