Biography

London College of Fashion

Liz has been teaching about fashion and sustainability in higher education for over a decade. Mostly this has been alongside her work for over 15 years with Labour Behind the Label and the Clean Clothes Campaign supporting garment manufacture workers to defend their rights.

For five years she jointly-coordinated a project called Fashioning an Ethical Industry (FEI) for Labour Behind the Label which supported educators to bring workers' rights and other sustainable fashion issues into their teaching mostly in the UK but also overseas. With Marsha Dickson from University of Delaware and US network Educators for Socially Responsible Apparel Business, she edited 'Sustainable fashion: A handbook for educators' for FEI.

She teaches fashion sustainability to fashion and textile business, marketing and design students as an associate lecturer at a number of universities across the UK including London College of Fashion and Nottingham Trent University, as well as in Denmark and Argentina.

Liz is a graduate of Call of the Wild, a year long foundation course in outdoor education leadership with WildWise in association with Schumacher College. This has led Liz to inquire into how taking students out of the classroom and into nature can contribute to the learning experience about fashion sustainability education.
