Biography
Hertie School of Governance
Leonardo Iacovone is Professor of Economics at the Hertie School. His research and policy advisory focuses on development economics, firm dynamics, productivity, entrepreneurship, innovation, trade, and youth unemployment. He is a Lead Economist at the World Bank where he has worked for more than 10 years. Iacovone previously worked as a consultant for the UNDP, WTO, UNIDO, USAID and the EU. His research has been widely published in top peer-reviewed journals such as Science, Economic Journal, American Economic Review P&P, Journal of Development Economics, Journal of International Economics, World Development, World Economy, World Bank Economic Review and Industrial and Corporate Change. His research on entrepreneurship was recently distinguished with the World Bank President Award, which recognises top projects across the World Bank Group for innovation and impact. Iacovone is currently in the top 2% of economists as ranked by IDEAS/REPEC, the largest bibliographic database for economics. He holds a PhD in Economics from University of Sussex, and a degree in Economics and Social Sciences from Bocconi University.
