Ian is the founder and managing partner of Monte Carlo Capital, a firm that invests itspartners own capital in early stage companies in Europe, Asia and North America, with afocus on tech/web as well as pharmaceutical/biotech/med tech companies. As an active angel investor, Ian and his partners filter through close to 1000 investment opportunities every year, carry out due diligence on a selection of those and invest in the top handful of them. Ian is regularly the lead investor in the investment round, often joining the board or the advisory board. In Asia, Monte Carlo Capital has a presence in Hong Kong where it actsas an accelerator and, in addition to providing funding, partners with companies to helpthem set up, distribute and/or manufacture in Asia.

Monte Carlo Capital is supported by a range of advisors with extensive experience acrosssectors and geographies who assist in deal sourcing as well as due diligence and business acceleration.

Before founding Monte Carlo Capital, Ian was, until 2009, the regional managing directorand head of capital markets in Asia for Commerzbank where he was managing all capitalmarkets activities in Asia, including equity derivatives, credit, precious metals, foreignexchange, debt capital markets, as well as the treasuries of HK, Singapore and Shanghai.

Ian started his career in 1993 and previously worked in Paris, London, Tokyo, Singapore and Hong Kong with HSBC, UBS and JPMorgan.

Ian currently lectures venture capital to MBA and masters in finance students of theInternational University of Monaco.

Ian is a Monegasque and holds a MSc in Finance from the London School of Economics(LSE).
