Giovanni Radaelli

Giovanni holds BSc, MSc and PhD degrees from Politecnico di Milano (Italy). He joined Warwick Business School in 2014 as research fellow for NIHR CLAHRC (Collaboration for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care) in West Midlands. He led research projects on the development of new services in NHS (acute and mental health) trusts driven by new technologies and by the integration of existing, fragmented, services. While in Italy, he participated in EU-funded projects regarding the assessment of new health technologies impacted, and particularly their impact on organizational structures and operations. His current research interests relate to the development of new services in professional environments, such as NHS and academia. His case studies include the emergence and functioning of multidisciplinary teams in cancer care, the development of new integrated services in mental health settings, the role of electronic patient records. His research particularly looks into the role of middle managers, professional leaders and new organizational players as initiators and facilitators of change. He also studies cases of professional misconduct, with a current focus on the role of external actors, such as crime organizations, as initiators and facilitators of change.
