Doug Hopton is a Consultant and Trainer on money laundering and financial crime prevention. Before establishing his company in January 2003, Doug was with Barclays Bank for over 37 years for many of which he was Head of Group Fraud and Money Laundering Prevention.

Externally, he was a member of the former HM Treasury Money Laundering Experts Group, Chairman of Mainstream Banking Advisory Panel of the UK Joint Money Laundering Steering Group and a member of the Financial Services Authority Rule Book Advisory Panel. He was also a member of the Financial Services Skills Council AML Steering Group and the Financial Services Skills Council National Occupational Standards for Countering Financial Crime Working Group.

He speaks widely throughout the world on all aspects of anti-money laundering and financial crime as well as providing advice to both the public and private sector.

He has published numerous articles around the world and collaborated in the writing of a number books on money laundering and fraud prevention. His own latest book ‘Money Laundering - A Concise Guide for All Business’ was first published by Gower in March 2006 with the second edition published in August 2009.
