Schulich Executive Learning Centre

Brian Metcalfe has been an associate professor in the Goodman School of Business at Brock University, Ontario, for many years, teaching in the international and domestic MBA and undergraduate programs. His courses include International Business, International Marketing, Financial Services Marketing, Services Marketing, Marketing Management and e-Business Strategy.

Metcalfe began his career in corporate banking and has a doctorate in financial services marketing. He has researched and produced numerous reports on behalf of PWC, EY and KPMG in 14 different countries including Canada, Australia, China, India, Japan and South Africa. The reports have covered financial services areas such as asset management, corporate banking, investment banking, life and property and casualty insurance, and foreign banks and foreign insurers strategies in emerging markets. He co-authored “Consumer Bank Marketing”, a bilingual text produced for the Institute of Canadian Bankers.

He is a former executive vice-president of McConnell International Asset Management Inc., a Toronto-based investment management company, which was acquired by Barclays Bank and has consulted for a wide range of organizations, including Royal Bank of Canada, Scotiabank, Barclays Bank, Sun Life Insurance Company, Equitable Life of Canada and several major consulting firms. He has designed and published more than 30 thought leadership reports on financial services in Sub Saharan Africa on behalf of PWC and KPMG.
