Biography
Harvard Medical School
After graduating with honors from the “Tecnologico de Monterrey” Medical School in Mexico in 2003, Dr. Laga pursued training in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas and Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. After residency, he obtained a Masters in Medical Sciences from Harvard Medical School and subsequently trained in Dermatopathology at the Harvard combined dermatopathology fellowship program. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Pathology at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts. He serves as co-director of the Dermatopathology and Medical Microbiology fellowship programs at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Dr. Laga is an associate dermatopathologist and a consultant for infectious diseases. His academic interest focuses on the role of histopathology in the diagnosis of infectious disease and best clinical practices in pathology. He is interested in promoting excellence and access to anatomic pathology and laboratory services globally. To this end, he participated in the design and implementation of the Masters of Medicine in Pathology training program in Rwanda, where he dedicates one month per year to teaching and mentoring residents, assisting with the review of cases, and capacity building in Anatomic Pathology in Rwanda since 2013. Dr. Laga has published 45 articles, 17 book chapters and co-edited one book.
