Biography

UW Professional & Continuing Education

Aaron Cooke designs, builds and monitors experimental prototype buildings and residential structures in cold climates. His work experience crosses the Arctic, with projects in Alaska, Canada, Denmark, Greenland, Iceland, Norway and Russia, testing new methods of building durable and energy-efficient homes and commercial buildings in the circumpolar regions. He has 14 years of architectural and project management experience in Alaska, including design and construction, housing analysis and remediation, disaster preparedness and response, water and sanitation research and workforce training.

He has a master’s in architecture from the University of Cincinnati, is a licensed architect in the state of Alaska and serves as an instructor for the Arctic Engineering program at the Danish Technical University’s Arctic campus in Greenland. Aaron was born and raised in Alaska and has also lived in Siberia, Greenland, and Denmark.
