About the course

This 2-day session will provide both legal practitioners, in-house legal counsels, brokers, insurers - and all those who would benefit from a good and updated understanding of the complexities of the English law of voyage chartering of ships - with an insight into the legal and commercial framework of the future of shipping.

Course Content

Given the magnitude of the AI revolution in shipping and the large number of important cases decided in the last couple of years, the course is a must for all those with an active interest or involvement in voyage chartering of the vessels of today and those of tomorrow. The course will take the delegates through all stages of the life of a voyage charterparty at this difficult market juncture and with a clear eye to the future: from the added pressure of disclosure when fixing to the difficulties of the laytime and demurrage system once traffic management rolls in.

How does the current market affect negotiations and how will remotely controlled ships affect this? How can discretion and market confidentiality survive? How can owners protect themselves and their assets, technologically advanced ships, against charterers who may well be driven by different considerations?
