Each year our Summer Studio's give students already studying architecture or a related discipline the opportunity to join us for a three-week intensive course.
The Bartlett Summer Studio is an academic and architectural adventure, enabling students to develop their design skills and conceptual and critical thinking within a playful atmosphere of experimentation and fabrication.
This three-week short course provides the opportunity for students aged 18 or over, already studying architecture or a related discipline at university, to develop advanced techniques and specialist skills at a world-leading architecture school in the heart of London.
About the course
Over the course of three weeks, students will respond to a shared design brief, generating their own detailed design responses. Each student's thinking and design outputs will be guided and informed by architectural design classes and workshops in specialist skills.
Students will be encouraged to experiment, challenge and test their ideas in the studio, the workshop and crits. Weekly exhibition trips and cultural visits allow participating students to enjoy the unique creative culture of London, and talks from invited lecturers and practitioners deepen their knowledge of the industry as a whole.
The course concludes with a one-day exhibition of work, complete with a private view for staff, students and their guests, and a chance to celebrate the achievements of three weeks of intensive hard work.
The course is taught by highly-skilled Bartlett tutors and is ideal for students looking to investigate and explore an individual project and produce a high quality sequence of work, which will support their undergraduate or postgraduate studies.
Who should attend
This course has been designed for students already studying architecture, or a related subject, at degree level. We are looking for applications from motivated students, who are passionate about architecture and design and already familiar with university-level architectural, computational and design skills.
