The three days MDP is designed for senior management professionals in the corporate world. The idea is to facilitate discussions among the participants to exchange views on geopolitical implications for their business interests. The programme may be of limited interest to security analysts and specialised journalists who regularly deal with issues raised in the program in their professional capacity. However, this program will help in developing new perspectives from a socio-political perspectives.
About the course
Today’s corporate and business strategists are constantly challenged to formulate strategic decision-making in world fraught with geopolitical uncertainties. Corporate leaders in the senior management are confronted with the task of shaping the environment in which they prosper. Influencing the eco-system for the growth and expansion of their respective corporate interests calls for a much nuanced understanding of the geopolitical factors impacting business. Events like the 9/11 attacks, the 2008 financial crisis, emergence of China, US-China trade wars, and BREXIT have not only impacted business but the fact that these events have taken place in such a short span of two decades have left senior management grappling with multiple linkages between business and geopolitics. These linkages have manifested themselves in various risk sites for corporations and their myriad activities. Developing forecasting tools to enhance enterprise resilience with respect to threats from regional and international conflicts. Therefore, there is an unprecedented need for developing a strategic vision and having a clear road map is to become a significant player. No wonder, Wire and Plastic Products (WPP) plc CEO Martin on being asked by the Harvard Business School what are the most important challenges CEOs face these days, responded, ‘the main challenge is volatility. That includes geopolitical issues, like the BREXIT vote, the Middle-East, China, and the US election……………………….I am not pleading poverty or over difficulty, but all of this complexity makes it harder to do our jobs.’

Module 3: Corporate Risk Assessment and Resilience Planning in today’s turbulent world (dealing with China Rise, US-China Trade Wars)
Module 4: Corporate Engagement with State Actors (For instance, Public-Private Partnerships)
Module 5: Corporate Engagement with Non-State Actors, the Responsible Company and the new ‘market ethics’
The three day programme would include a mix of case studies and lectures. Resource persons would also include an eminent practitioner speaker.
