Who should attend
No academic qualification is required, and most courses are suitable for students who are new to the subject.
All teaching is in English (unless a foreign-language course). If your first language is not English, you need to satisfy yourself that you have the required near-native command of the language to get the maximum benefit from studying with ICE.
About the course
This course is designed to help you to help others; providing you with the knowledge to develop the psychological factors, the emotions, the mental state of an individual and/or a group of athletes to better perform or to overcome some their personal difficulties while training and competing.
09:30 Session 1: Importance of psychology and mental skills in learning and exercise performance
This session will introduce the course and highlight the importance of psychological factors and mental skills in enhancing learning, exercise and performance for different age groups.
11:30 Session 2: Psychological variables and mental skills assessments
This session will introduce several methods to assess mental skills and psychological factors.
14:00 Session 3: Introduction to the concepts of motivation, Goal-setting, Self-confidence, Commitment, Imagery and mental practice and their implications for learning
Several psychological and mental skills concepts will be introduced in this session.
16:00 Session 4: Other internal and external strategies to Increase Exercise Adherence and performance
This session will close the circle by looking at other factors that could affect people’s adherence to exercise and also their performance.
