About the course
This program, created in affiliation with MindEdge and Six Sigma Black Belts, is inclusive of all topics covered by the International Association for Six Sigma Certification. This program prepares students for the MindEdge Six Sigma Green Belt Certification Exam (purchased separately) and provides information to those interested in learning about Six Sigma processes.
Six Sigma is a management approach meant to improve the quality of products or services by eliminating the variation that causes of defects and errors and dates back from the mid- 1980’s. Six Sigma seeks processes where outputs are 99.9997% statistically free from defects.
The methodology of six sigma has two sub-divisions. They are DMAIC & DMADV. The former is used to improve an existing business process, while the second one is used either for creating a new product or for process designs for predictable and defect free performance. By DMAIC it means giving importance to defining, measuring, analyzing, improving and controlling a process to meet its better quality. The implementation of the six sigma methodology, helps in providing a logical sequence for existing concepts and the problem solving tools, by sufficient repackaging of the tools and concepts. The second approach is the DMADV approach: define, measure, analyze, design and verify. This methodology is especially useful when implementing new strategies and initiatives because of its basis in data, early identification of success and thorough analysis.
Students who complete the Six Sigma Green Belt certificate are awarded a total of 32 PDUs (5 Strategic and Management PDUs, 11 Leadership PDUs and 16 Technical PDUs) and 3.2 IACET CEUs.

Six Sigma Green Belt Exam Prep Course This self-paced course qualifies students for the MindEdge Six Sigma Green Belt Certification Exam by explaining the concepts, strategies, tools, and techniques they will need to complete process improvement projects and activities. The course is divided into 10 modules that explain key foundational Six Sigma information, guide students through the five steps of the DMAIC methodology, and demonstrate how a Six Sigma approach can benefit organizations in several, diverse industries or business sectors. Course assignments detail the tools and skills learners will implement as they apply a Six Sigma approach to process improvement activities, and show practitioners how they can contribute as important members of improvement teams.
Students will have eight months to complete the program. Please note that the MindEdge Six Sigma Green Belt Certification Exam is not included as part of the tuition and must be purchased separately from MindEdge.
A Six Sigma Black Belt program mentor will be available to students. The mentor will hold office hours once a week via videoconference and will be available via email. Emails will be responded to within 3 business days, excluding weekends and holidays. If students are posing similar questions, the mentor, at his sole discretion, may choose to create presentations on the topics.
After completing this course, students should be able to:
- Explain the concepts, tools, techniques, and strategies used in Six Sigma projects
- Describe the five stages of the DMAIC methodology and identify the factors that will improve its chances of success
- Choose and apply specific tools and techniques in support of process improvement activities
- Analyze the specific roles and responsibilities of team members and formulate plans to ensure appropriate participation in project assignments
- Examine the interrelationships of tasks, activities, and practices in Six Sigma projects
Each course has a link for students to “Report an Error” that connects students to MindEdge’s technical staff. Technical concerns will be directed to MindEdge via the feedback tool within the course. Learners will receive an answer within three business days, whether weekday or weekend by email.
Quizzes and Testing
Students will be required to complete an open diagnostic (math and analysis skills diagnosis) to identify areas for improvement before entering the program.
Throughout the course, students will be tested on their understanding and comprehension of course topics through challenging exercises, interactive games, and case study assignments. Each module also includes graded comprehensive quizzes and tests that students can use to gauge their progress and prepare for each of the two 50-question practice exams at the course end, as well as summaries and study guides that can be used for review. Video segments from subject matter experts also supplement the course material, to provide real-world examples and enhanced understanding of important concepts and best practices. A minimum score of a 70% will be required for all assignments. Students will have three attempts at all graded assignments.
Students will receive feedback on both wrong and right answers throughout each module.
