About the course
A part-time executive coaching programme with an emphasis on time for practice and reflection
Executive coaching has become a significant and influential part of the learning and development strategy of many organisations worldwide. Henley’s accredited programme will appeal to managers and coaches wishing to improve the professionalism and quality of their personal coaching skills and gain a professional qualification from an internationally respected business school.
Our coaching programmes aim to create resilient coaches who will coach effectively in a wide range of scenarios. The in-person workshops give valuable time for practising new coaching skills and reflection.
This part-time executive coaching qualification programme, completed over 9 months, is research-driven and led by inspirational tutors. It offers:
- The opportunity to experiment with, and practise, different approaches and tools
- Ongoing feedback, coaching supervision and mentor coaching to support development of your skills and confidence
- A quality assurance statement of coaching training from a global business school – Henley is triple-accredited and part of the University of Reading

The Henley Professional Certificate in Coaching is accredited by the International Coach Federation (ICF), Association for Coaching (AC) and the European Mentoring & Coaching Council (EMCC); recognising the quality of the programme experience.
The Henley Centre for Coaching: Be part of a coaching community
Your programme fee includes membership of The Henley Centre for Coaching (for the programme duration). This provides benefits such as access to up to 10 webinars a year, networking opportunities, online discussion forums, research and blogs.
Global business, global coaching programmes
The Henley Professional Certificate in Coaching is now available to be studied in-person from each of our campus locations in South Africa, Germany and Finland. Please enquire and apply directly to the campus you wish to be based at.
Study is part-time, typically 9 months duration, with 7 days of in-person workshops scheduled over the first 3 months then 6 months of supported study. In-person workshops are held at our Greenlands campus.
Pre workshop study
You will have access to your online learning portal including resources from the Henley Academic Resource Centre.
Before Workshop 1 we will invite you to undertake reading, reflection and online learning; this will require around 3-5 hours of study time.
You will then complete the following workshops:
- Workshop 1: Self-awareness as a coach
- Workshop 2: Tools and techniques
- Workshop 3: Integration
Post workshops supported study
A further 6 months of study, including online content (reading, videos and skill-based webinars), plus coach mentoring, coaching practice and coaching supervision.
After completing Workshop 3, you will be required to undertake 20 hours coaching practice, obtaining feedback from all clients.
A 2,000-word document reflecting on your development as a coach and a 30 minute recording of a coaching session are the basis of the award of the Certificate.
You will have ongoing contact with Henley Business School through:
- Access to resources from the online learning portal for up to 12 months
- University of Reading and Henley alumni status
- Option to continue membership of The Henley Centre for Coaching (fee payable)
The Certificate forms part of the MSc in Coaching & Behavioural Change. Exemptions may be available if you wish to continue your study.
