Who should attend

This programme is recommended for L&D or OD professionals who are accountable for (or contribute to) driving and leading the learning agenda within their organisation (or organisations that they work with). There’re actions and activities where participants will need to review/update actions and strategies from their organisation (or one they work with).

About the course

This programme has been designed by Phil Wilcox, a highly respected and credible L&D influencer. The intention is for participants on this programme to embrace the remit within the CIPDs learning philosophy. Learners will be able to collaborate with both the facilitator and fellow learners to enhance their capability and practice to deliver their own L&D agenda.

The design of this programme is intentionally different. This is to reflect the complexity and depth of L&D. It will also role model current, modern and evidence-based approaches in Learning and Development and give learners a chance to work through the content in real time.

You will be able to transfer these approaches into your context right from the outset of the programme. Using a purposeful mix of methods participants will engage with, explore and then embed the knowledge and skills from the programme into their day to day working practice(s). Over the course of the programme, we work across business (and learning) strategy, stakeholders, data and analytics, learning theory and address the skills needed to drive learning and performance now and into the future.

Programme Objectives

By the end of this programme, participants will:

  • Have reviewed and where appropriate updated the Learning and Development Strategy for their organisation (or now they work with) as well as built a set of measures, metrics and KPI's to measure success.
  • Mapped the key stakeholders in the business and completed a performance consulting conversation with at least one of those stakeholders.
  • Reviewed the current and future (L&D) skills and capability requirements to deliver the organisational and learning strategy.
  • Taken part in three action learning sets and three reflective practice discussions (with the intent being that this is a practice that individuals and hopefully groups continue in the future).
  • Created a personalised action plan with associated measures of success.
