Over the last decade, innovation has risen up the public service's agenda due to:

  • changing and increasing demands and expectations from the public;
  • possibilities opened up by new and emerging technologies and social media;
  • continuing prevalence of seemingly intractable social problems;
  • austerity measures and financial constraints; and
  • an ever-more globalised world.

These matters have created immense pressures for change and innovation in the public sector and how government operates.

Drawing on a wealth of international learning and research, this interactive two-day workshop is designed to broaden and deepen senior leaders' ability to devise and implement innovative strategies to tackle pressing issues in their organisations.

The workshop will explore the approaches, tools and methods to enable robust innovation and how to foster innovations that have large scale impact.

Each participant will create an action plan for an innovation strategy or project in their organisation. The workshop will include presentations, case studies, small group task-focused activities, plenary discussions and individual reflection

Who should attend

Current and aspiring public sector executives and managers who want to achieve better outcomes in policy implementation and service delivery and for those with specific responsibility for innovation.
