Agenda

Day 1

Session 1: Foundations

Delegates will undertake a practical exercise and be introduced to key Agile processes that will be used throughout the day. Delegates will then be introduced to the Agile Mindset, Values and Principles, and learn about the origins and evolution of Agile delivery.

Learning outcomes:

  • Learn the history and development of Agile methods for delivery
  • Learn the Values, Principles and Processes most frequently applied in Agile environments
  • Lean the most common roles in Agile teams, and how they work collaboratively to achieve outcomes
  • Learn how to demonstrate the benefits of an Agile approach to stakeholders

Session 2: Increment and Iterate

Hands on practical exercise that explores incremental and iterative working, feedback loops and the power of self-organising teams. Participants will learn about the most common roles in Agile teams, and will get hands on experience applying Agile processes. Participants will explore the power of retrospectives as a feedback mechanism.

  • Learn the most common roles in Agile teams, and how they work collaboratively to achieve outcomes
  • Learn how to use Retrospectives to generate insight and maximise teams

Day 2

Session 3: Plan and Prioritise

Delegates will undertake a practical exercise exploring story mapping. Delegates will learn how to create user stories to help teams understand customer requirements. They will learn how to prioritise and groom work into backlogs. Delegates will be introduced to Agile estimation techniques commonly used for forecasting and predictability.

  • Learn how to prioritise work to meet the needs of the business.
  • Learn how to apply Agile estimation techniques

Session 4: Measure and Unblock

Participants will explore the principles of Flow and look at measures for throughput. Teams will explore common constraints and identify Agile ‘blockers’ in their own organisations.

  • Learn how to measure progress in Agile teams, and use metrics as a feedback mechanism
  • Lean how to recognise impediments and blockers – and how to tackle them
  • Learn how to demonstrate the benefits of an Agile approach to stakeholders, and help them understand how to support Agile teams
