Project Management Overview - This program module provides a solid understanding of what a project is and how it is managed successfully. This module provides invaluable foundational content to those new to PM and supports the more detailed life-cycle topics that follow, while for those with PM experience, this module ensures a common vocabulary for the discussions and presentations to follow.

The Executive's Role in Project Planning and Preparation - This program module provides a framework that ensures adequate planning and analysis are completed before a project begins, including aligning with the organization's strategy and goals; determining its scope, schedule, budget, resource requirements and risks; building organizational support; creating an effective project team; and establishing guidelines to maintain organizational accountability.

The Executive's Role in Project Selection - This program module explains how to ensure that the projects planned and underway comprise the best portfolio of projects to further the organization's tactical goals and, more importantly, strategic objectives. Practical tools and techniques that ensure maximum benefit at optimum cost and that evaluate multiple portfolio solution alternatives are explored.

Emerging Trends in Project Management - This program module explores new PM approaches that leverage the skills and experience of all team members, and approaches that are more collaborative, more agile, and less dogmatic. This module presents new trends in project management that are already being adopted by the largest and most progressive organizations in the world.

The Executive's Role in Project Governance - This program module explains the critical role of the project sponsor in ensuring that all aspects of the project are being monitored, managed and controlled. This module will introduce early warning signs, key performance indicators, project dimensions, metrics and dynamic dashboards.

The Executive's Role in Project Execution - This program module recognizes that organizations have embraced the value of structured project management practices but are still unable to effectively define the Executive's role in executing a project. This module discusses the tools and techniques an executive should employ to lead their project teams to deliver expected results.

The Special Challenges of International Projects - This program module explores the additional challenges executives must address when they are responsible for oversight of global projects, very large and/or complex projects, government projects and projects in specific industries with rigorous regulatory requirements.

Who should attend

Executives who currently or will in the future, will have some accountability for guiding the selection, planning, sponsorship and/or execution of projects, but are not usually project team members who perform the actual project work. This includes: project sponsors, members of project executive advisory or oversight boards, project champions, managers who provide resources to projects, and executive stakeholders accountable for the success of projects.
