About the course

At HCI, we believe that managers have the ultimate responsibility for developing and engaging talent to drive the business forward. HR and L&D leaders must support the relationship between people leaders and their teams early and consistently by formalizing the development of people leaders.

Why Should You Attend?

Ninety-three percent of HR survey respondents agree that effective team leadership is an important part of business success. However, unclear directions and expectations, the inability to connect team goals to business strategies, and inadequate leadership are top challenges for effective team performance.

Moreover, managers—a large proportion of people leaders in any organization—are an under-served population when it comes to development, sometimes receiving no training on how to lead people until years into the role. This is significant because one of the top reasons employees stay in a role is the relationship they have with their manager.

HR functions must have the capability to assist people leaders in demonstrating accountability, communicating effectively, coaching and developing team members, and acting inclusively. After earning your EPL certification, you will be able to:

Enable people leaders to articulate the business strategy and how the team and its members contribute to it

Use intention when developing teams

Facilitate productive interactions and demonstrate the importance of influence within and outside teams

Encourage people leaders to build skills and behaviors that allow for positive dynamics

Support people leaders in exhibiting the right leadership behaviors

Assess team leadership effectiveness
