About the course
We rely on the senses to translate the world around us. However they also affect us on a subconscious level, triggering emotions and deep-seated memories. Explore the emotional impact and the neuroscience behind the senses, followed by exploring sight and the psychology of colours, towards designing exciting and engaging multi-sensory experiences.
Take part in hands-on activities based on sight, smell, sound, taste and touch, to understand their effects and relationships with one another, and how designers are using the power of the senses in their work. Discover the neuroscience behind the senses, and the areas of the brain that are activated which lead to memorable experiences. Focussing on sight, take a closer look at the psychology of colours and their effect on people’s emotional responses and decisions. Chart the representation of colours through history, and their different meanings across cultures.
The course is taught through illustrated lectures, hands on activities, group discussions and short collaborative exercises.
