Description

Teams drive organizational progress, yet forming and leading high-performance teams is one of the most complex challenges facing any leader. Creating and Leading High-Performing Teams is a unique leadership program for executives that combines the best insights from research and case studies, tested in the context of hands-on, experiential learning.

Through cross-functional team building and an enhanced ability to lead high-performing teams, this program places executives in settings and contexts that will change the way they experience leadership.

Program Highlights & Benefits

In Creating and Leading High-Performing Teams, you will:

  • Gain hands-on experience in building, participating on, and leading teams in diverse contexts
  • Understand how team leadership resides in action rather than position
  • Manage strong individual players within a team and draw out the best from everyone — so that the team is more than a sum of its parts
  • Build a peer network of fellow leaders for sharing challenges, insights, and perspectives

Experience & Impact

The dynamics of teamwork are too complex to be understood in the classroom alone. Creating and Leading High-Performing Teams provides a distinctive combination of classroom and case work, along with daily experiential exercises. It builds upon years of programs by Professor Michael Useem and Wharton Leadership Ventures, which have immersed MBA students and executives in rigorous outdoor challenges around the globe. Senior guest speakers also offer their experiences from business, the military, and other areas.

Wharton faculty, led by Jeff Klein, executive director of Wharton’s McNulty Leadership Program, apply their field-based research and the latest strategic insights to help you build and nurture performance-driven teams.

In sum, this program provides managers, regardless of their organization size or type, with the strategic frameworks and tools to build and lead teams that leverage individual strengths to achieve outstanding results.

Session topics include:

  • Forming and Sustaining Successful Teams
  • Aligning Individuals Around Group Goals
  • Team Dynamics
  • Leading from the Front, Middle, and Behind
  • Experiential Learning

Who should attend

Creating and Leading High-Performing Teams is designed primarily for managers of small to mid-sized teams, specifically middle and senior managers from the private, public, and nonprofit sectors. Participants leave the program with an expanded peer network, plus specific tools and frameworks to better understand team dynamics and drive better team performance.
