Description

Building upon the fundamental knowledge gained in Part I, the Certificate in Employee Health - Part II dives deeper into the strategies and concepts of public sector health benefit plans. Ideal for new trustees, the Certificate in Health - Part II arms you with education and tools needed to successfully fulfill the duties of your role.

The structure of the CAPPP® program is flexible. Part II of the Certificate in Employee Health can be taken prior to Part I to accommodate your schedule. To earn your certificate both Part I and Part II must be completed along with a take-home exam.

Topics

Administrative Strategies

  • This session will address key forces driving benefits, how you can distinguish between passive and proactive practices, developing key strategic objectives, improve staff competencies, customer expectations, and more.

Concepts of Group Health Plans

  • Learn about effective oversight and management of your plans, address basic health plan designs and options for structuring a plan, review the advantages and disadvantages of various plan designs, discuss emerging changes from health care reform, and more.

Employer Strategies/Options

  • This session will cover the different drivers of health care, how to evaluate the health care equation and understanding employer strategies and options. It will conclude with a class exercise and discussion.

Emerging Issues

  • Learn about the influence of trends on future developments, evaluating the forces shaping health care, understanding the interconnectedness of benefits and pay, and the value of proactive versus reactive approaches.
