However, the effective application of business analytics for business impact through its influences on managerial decision making, especially within the contexts of groups and business organizations, involves significant art and craft. This module examines the business rationale for evidenced-based decision making, the behavioral and organizational dynamics surrounding business decision making, and the art and craft of applying business analytics to support effective business decision making.
Applying Analytics to Your Business
Business analytics is the intersection of statistical and mathematical modeling techniques, technology, and real world business challenges. Through the application of these models and technology, you can improve the likelihood of improved decision making for business operations. Data is front and center in data driven decision making. With data being ubiquitous, Data Science is no longer a function carried out by a select few. In this module students will be introduced to key concepts and approaches to business process analysis and improvement. The main focus of this module is both understanding and designing business processes that accomplish specific desired outcomes. Students will learn how to identify, document, model, assess, and improve core business processes. Students will be introduced to process design principles. The way in which information technology can be used to manage, transform, and improve business processes is discussed. Students will be exposed to challenges and approaches to organizational change, domestic and offshore outsourcing, and inter-organizational processes.
