About the course

The world around us is changing at an extraordinary pace. It is not just the rapid pace of change, but that business leaders now deal with a VUCA world where there is increasing Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, and Ambiguity.

In this two-day Agile leadership training, participants learn why we need business agility, the personal key competencies to lead the transformation, and the organizational elements required to survive and thrive in today’s turbulent environment.

This course goes into specific tools and techniques to help you develop relevant leadership capabilities. We combine exercises, case studies, and interactivity to understand the principles and concepts behind agility. In addition, we address the organization and the key elements for thoughtful improvement of our organizational abilities.

The ICP-ALP is one of the Continuing Learning Certifications (CLCs) on the Agile Executive Leadership track. The certification focuses on transformational behaviors and skills to increase our agility both personally and for our business. Participants who complete this certification will be exposed to case studies and learn leading-edge thinking to apply at their companies. It provides the essential skills needed to lead organizations towards greater agility.

Part 1: Welcome and Introductions

Summary: Opening and general logistics for the class. To get started we will get to know each other and understand the objectives of the course.

Part 2: Why Agile Leadership?

Summary: As the world around us is changing, we have to adapt our businesses and the way we work. Technology advances drives societal and cultural changes. As the rate of change increases so does the impact of change. This section focuses on the factors that are driving our need to increase agility in our own capabilities and in our companies.

Section 3: Personal Agility in Leadership

Summary: Personal Agility is a key component on the journey to agility. We have a distinct set of skills that we need to develop to be effective agile leaders. We will better understand how our own styles and mindset need to change in our rapidly changing world.

Part 4: Relationship Agility

Summary: People are our most important element to success, so in addition to better understanding ourselves, we also have to understand the social context in which we work and how we interact with others. In this section, we look at the organization as a human system along with the importance of key conversations.

Part 5: Organizational Agility

Summary: To maximize value in the organization and survive this VUCA world, we have to plan for our organizational agility. We will look at the key elements to increase our agility, support rapid decision-making, and help us adapt in a changing world.

Part 6: Summary

Summary: Participate in an exercise that pulls together key concepts from the class.

In-Class Exercises and Interactivity:

In-class exercises help to reinforce the concepts from the class. This includes hands-on exercises, simulations, Agile games, and interactive discussions. The learner also has opportunities to relate the topics to the context of their own organization
