About the course

3D printing creates new opportunities in design and creation of advanced products. With the development and maturation of these technologies, polymer 3D printing has an increasing presence in modern day industries. This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the 3D printing techniques with focus on metals and their applications.

This course delves deeper into the advanced nuances of 3D Printing. The participants will learn about the advanced materials available in polymer printing, as well as be introduced into the emerging applications of carbon fiber printing and multi-material printing. Participants will also learn about the various testing and measurement techniques used in polymer printing. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to design and print, as well as visit the state-of-the art 3D printing facility.


  1. Understand advanced materials in polymer printing.

  2. Exposure to emerging applications including carbon fiber printing and multi-material printing.

  3. Experiential learning of carbon fiber polymer printing including post-processing.

  4. Testing and measurement in polymer printing.


Day 1

  1. Advanced polymer 3D printing.

  2. Polymers in 3D printing. (materials, properties, critical process parameters)

  3. Advanced polymer product design cases.

Multi-material anatomical model 4D printing Carbon fiber printing 4. Advanced design session using simple CAD.

  1. Machine session.

Day 2

  1. Machine session using carbon fiber printer and post processing.

  2. Lab tour to visit testing and characterisation techniques used to qualify the polymer parts.

  3. Applications and future trend in polymer printing.
